Outdoor life

It’s a key goal for ”Healthy Leisure” to facilitate outdoor activities such as health promotion activities for the whole population and with a particular focus on families and inactive groups.
• Better public health
• Develop good and inclusive communities
• Facilitate physical activity in daily life
• Development of facilities for activity
• Create multiple social arenas that can turn physical activities more attractive

Healthy Leisure is part of the national FYSAK-venture, organized as a partnership between Rogaland County Council, County Gouvernor, 15 municipalities and NGOs. Sandnes was a member of the network in 2003. Locally, the work is implemented in the municipal for Sandnes 2002 – 2017.

We will seek to promote physical activity in daily life through
• systematic organization / visualization of parks for hiking, cultural attractions and the shortest path to the overordnet grøntstruktur ?????
• develop, improve and distribute maps (both printed brochures and digital)
• Cross-sectoral collaboration in projects and cooperation with NGOs, Stavanger Tourist Association, Statsskog (management of state owned forest) and the Inter-municipal Outdoor Recreation Boards.

The municipality's cross-sector ”Outdoor Group” is working on arrangements for outdoor activities in the municipality. The ”Outdoor Group” is led by the Department of Park and Sports. The responsibility for coordinating ”Healthy leisure” is added to the staff of Sandnes Healthy City.

Facilitation and information about "green cycling routes" (see also ”Bicycle City Sandnes”).
Brochure with puzzles: "Find 10 destinations in Melsheia".
Hiking and district map with visualization of hiking paths and cultural heritage in the community.
Information about hiking opportunities through brochures, maps, info-meetings and the internet (the city council's web page)
Stand and puzzle activities in cooperation with NGOs on ”World Mental Health Day”. (Local theme in 2009: "Happy hiking!")

Increased understanding in the population that the outdoor activities, outdoor recreation and physical activity are especially important for mental health. ”Healthy Leisure” is related to public health measures and is used to activate inactive and people with mental disorders.
