SLT, Coordicnation of Crime prevention Initiative, is a model for coordinating a range of crime prevention activities aimed at vulnerable children and youth between 0 and 19 years old.

We have many years experience with interdiscipline (or a variety of) cooperation between potlice and the local authority in Sandnes. The area groups were started in the early 90's in cooperation between police and the local authority. In the period 2003 - 2005 the SLT model was tested as a project following a danish model and was approved as a permanent activity by the local authority board in 2006. The SLT coordinator is linked to the local council staff  through Sunn and by 2009 197 local authorities had established the SLT model nationwide.


The mutual and binding cooportation is based administratively and politically in the highest leadership level of the police in the local authority. In addition we have a common action plan for SLT that is 'rulleres?' biannually and we have included the crime prevention coppoeration in the local authority plan for Sandnes for the period 2007 - 2020. 

In addition to the long term perspective and basis of SLT cooperation, are our own values, attitudes, way of thinking and professional conduct (?) critical success factors in the cooperation.

Coordination that is required is precautionary measures for individual children and youth, for groups of children and youth who are at risk and for all children and youth (behavioural work).
SLT is not an activity program, but a model for coordinating afforts and precautionary measures. Systematic and long term efforts that are coordinated have the most impact.


In sandnes we have selected the same organisational model for SLT as KRÅD, the crime prevention office, recommends:
The cooperation is organised at three levels. For all three collation and cataloguing of information at committee level occurs centrally.

In execution of the activities children / youth, parents / superiors , volunteers and local business are included in the efforts.

Committee level, committee for SLT / Police group
The major, ...., police chief / Sandnes police station and SLT coordinator. There is a formal agreement for Politi råd

Some cases are not taken up by the 'oppvekstgruppene' but are treated in accordance with porceudres or bylaws in the local authority. Execution of initiatives is a line responsibility and intiatives are carried out in cooperation with many parties. The groups are pirmarily based on geographical location of the secondary school intake area, but also with a view towards the action plan for SLT.
